Hi Rhonda,

Just wanted to tell you and the others at NEH have been much on my mind lately. I miss you folks. So much has happened in one year.

I actually realized something the other day that I thought I should tell you. When I was applying for the WG scholarship, I was really struggling with how to do this for a living, would it even work, etc. etc. — all the doubts that go along something as outlandish as changing careers to go fly helicopters. I applied for your scholarship that very specifically stated that it was for a woman who wanted to go into the field professionally.

When you all awarded the scholarship to me, it was not only very validating; it was also a call to task to make sure I actually went through with it. Heck, here I am now, whoohoo!!!

So thank you, in this odd and belated way, for providing me exactly the kick in the pants I needed to make sure it actually happened. Both the opportunity, and the responsibility, to see it through. that wording on the scholarship was really well done. Thank you.
