While the US economy has slowed down and fuel prices have sky rocketed, ironically the U.S. helicopter Industry is suffering from a lack of pilots and mechanics.

All indications point to this trend continuing for quite some time.  This is due to several factors.  The Vietnam pilots are phasing out of the industry, enjoying their retirement now.  The current military pilots are receiving attractive incentives and bonuses to stay in the military, which is leaving a void in the Civilian Helicopter market.

In addition, the helicopter industry is experiencing growth on a global level as more countries are developing their aviation infrastructure.  Helicopter companies are struggling to find enough pilots and mechanics to fly and maintain their aircraft.

"The minimums are dropping and we are watching our flight instructors leave with as little as 800 flight hours.   We train our students to be the very best they can be and create advanced pilots with good decision making skills.  When companies need pilots their wish list tends to change, but they will always pick the best pilot available for a slot.    I will say that if you complete the program, do the leg work,  and take it seriously, you will get work in the industry.  It doesn't happen overnight, but within 4 years or so, you will be working and be making a very good salary."
